dec. ’17: Team Paul de Vroom + Sputnik selected to design a 9.000 m2 housing block in Amsterdam

As part of the new developments near the train station of Amsterdam Sloterdijk, the housing association Eigen Haard will develop a 50 meter high housing block next to the railway tracks of the Hemboog. The program is 9.000 m2, with 130 apartments and a social-commercial space for creative industries. We won the architects selection with a vision in which the large scale of the buildings and infrastructure in the context of the site is unified with the human scale of the housing program by stacking a couple of “housing warehouses”. The measurements of each housing warehouse are determined by the type of house it contains. The result is a self-confident and logic building that fits the current and the future context.
